Property Description

A quiet rural area with sunflowers, maize and cereal crops. The area teems with birds and wildlife. Within easy reach of the department capital, Perigueux, with its beautifully restored old town and modern shopping areas. The historic towns of Bourdeilles, Brantome, or Aubetterre can be explored in a morning, leaving plenty of time for relaxing and cooling off in the owners pool. Further afield the vine culture of Bergerac and Bordeaux and the distilleries at Cognac make an interesting day out. The prehistoric sites of the Dordogne valley vie with Chateaux, river trips, pretty sleepy villages, great restaurants and colourful markets, a week will not be enough!

Accommodation details

A bright kitchen/ dining room opens off a sunny courtyard. Originally the farm's stables La Petite Maison has been converted and appointed to a very high standard. The kitchen is fully equipped & has a dishwasher, washing machine and sufficient equipment to prepare a banquet or a light lunch, the choice is yours!  The dining area has a dining table with seating for 4. Books, games, a radio, CD, audio tape player and a DVD player may help to while away the time should it be too hot. Satellite TV shows BBC world news only. Free wi-fi access. A log burner will keep you cosy for autumn, spring or winter breaks. Marble stairs lead to a spacious bedroom, with antique double bed and a single bed settee. The newly fitted en suite shower room, TV & comfy sofa complete the scene-oh! I nearly forgot the great view across the valley to a local chateaux

Local area

A barbecue & outside furniture are available for alfresco dining, there is a lovely garden and terrace with 10 garden chairs. There is ample parking and also 4 bicycles available for your use. The 10 x 5 metre swimming pool shared pool is the perfect place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing and exploring. On site we offer table tennis, badminton and a mini-gym. Also on offer locally is tennis, walking, cycling, fishing and horseback riding. There is also a super 9 hole private course with friendly club house, serving snacks in summer..

Other details

The course is quite hilly and challenging, beginners welcome, play all day for around 25euros. Lots of interesting brocantes and vide-greniers (car boot sales) are held throughout the year. Free concerts are held in bars in Riberac on summer evenings. Local villages hold fetes which often include free concerts, al fresco meals and firework displays. If you like rambling local clubs welcome you to join them for gentle exploration of communes often with an opportunity for a meal. To enjoy the area fully a car is essential.

Rental prices/Changeover day

Prices are per week, for 2 people,per gite. Accommodation for extra guests at £10 per person per night.
 Winter long term lets from £100 pw.
July and August - £350

October and April- £250
Changeover days are flexible and we happy to quote for your requirements. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is before 10 am.

From CALAIS/BOULOGNE- Montreuil, Abbeville, Poix, Beauvais, Mantes, Chartres, Orleans, Poitiers, Angouleme. (Then signs to Perigueux)
From ROSCOFF - Morlaix, St. Brieuc, Rennes, Nantes, Niort, Angouleme. (Then signs for Perigueux)
Les Gacheries is in the Perigord Vert, the rural North of Dordogne. Local airports include Angouleme, Bergerac, Bordeaux, Limoges and La Rochelle. T.G.V. (fast train)is available at Angouleme. We recommend that you hire a car to get the best out of your visit or if you prefer you can bring your own.
Low cost flights are available flying into Limoges airport (2 hours) and Bergerac airport (1 hour) with Ryanair and /or Flybe. Current flights available are: Limoges (Bellegarde) to/from: East Midlands, Stansted, Liverpool, Newcastle and Southampton with Ryanair and Flybe.
Bergerac to/from: East Midlands, Stansted, Liverpool, Leeds, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Exeter, Southampton with Ryanair and Flybe. Car hire is available at either airport. Web links are available from both the Ryanair and Flybe web sites.
It is a day’s drive from the English Channel assuming you arrive in France at Calais.
