The house is in Montreuil
Poulay - a small village with a bar, a shop and a church, about 80 miles from
the ferry ports at Caen and St. Malo, and not much further from Cherbourg. If
you are travelling by air there are currently lo-cost flights to Dinard and
Tours - each about 80 miles from the house.
Accommodation details
The house is an
18th Century terraced cottage with thick stone walls and a slate roof. It has
been fully and lovingly renovated, bringing together traditional materials and
techniques with good modern design. The ground floor is completely open plan -
ideally suited for sociable evenings of cooking, eating, conversation and family
fun. It comprises an open kitchen with solid oak worktops, living area with
sofa, armchair and coffee table, and a large dining table and chairs. The
kitchen is fully equipped including a washing machine, tumble dryer and dish
washer. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a small double bed and a cot
and the second with full size bunkbeds. The armchair downstairs converts into a
single futon-bed and can fit in the double bedroom if needed. The bathroom has a
WC, wash basin, bath with shower above and shelving. Visitors can play
and picnic in the garden, which is across the single track road which runs in
front of the house.
Local area
Also on your doorstep is a bar and grocery, auberge, plenty of lovely rural
walks and a very pretty local village.

Half way between the historic towns
of Mayenne and Lassay les Chateaux, in the region of the Pays de Loire,
Montreuil Poulay is an ideal base from which to explore the neighbouring regions
of Brittany and Normandy as well as the local Mayenne department. This lovely
part of France is renowned for its cheeses and fruit - apples for cider and
calvados, and pears for perry.
Rental prices/Changeover day
Prices per week £175 - £275 -
Part-week and weekend bookings are also available, there is a £100
deposit for damage or loss or to cover the cost of extra cleaning after the
booking if it is required. This deposit will be returned, less any deductions
made, after your holiday. These rates do not include ferry or other transport costs. We recommend that you have travel insurance.
Changeover day is Saturday. Check-in
after 4PM and check-out before 10AM.
Travel times & Directions
Less than 90 minutes from the ferry ports
of Caen and St. Malo and also within an hour and a half of Dinard and Tours
airports which are served by lo-cost airlines from the UK. Directions will be provided by the owner upon booking.
