Property Description
A former Auberge built in the 1880's with all
the charm of a traditional French Bigorre house. Located in the village of
Pujo, South West France, we have made 51 Route des Pyrenees our home, consisting
of our main house plus a magnificent independent gite set in over an acre of
gardens with over twenty varieties of trees. We are based in a prime location
in France with easy access from the UK. Throughout the year we offer gite rental
offering you the space and ambience to enjoy your stay in France. We also offer
short breaks for those who need a base whilst viewing properties in the region
with the intention to buy. We can offer support, advice and answer any
questions that you may have in relation to your move to France. Car hire is
reasonable in this part of France and can be booked on line with extra discount
if booking with Rynair or Easyjet
Accommodation details
As you walk in the door
the vast space on the ground floor consists of the main living area with open
plan living/kitchen/dining area with beams, original stonewalls and feature
working fireplace. There is a sofa and two easy chairs, a television, video,
and stereo. There is a dining table with six chairs, a buffet dresser and fully
equipped kitchen. There is a further lounge/games room with sofa games and
books. On the first floor are two double bedrooms each with en suite shower
rooms. There are two further double bedrooms with a double shower room and two
toilets.
Local area
Outside facilities include a huge garden with many hidden charms including
twenty seven different variety of trees, many of which supply succulent fruit.
In addition you will be able to take advantage of the many different home grown
vegetables. There are places to relax and
enjoy the sun with the trickle of water into the pond as well as places to relax
and enjoy the shade under the vast canopy of trees. The climate encourages
outside eating hence plenty of garden furniture to enable you to enjoy alfresco
dining. The great French addiction of
petanque is also catered for with boules provided.
Other details
Walkers love the mountain
villages bordering Spain. Further North the beautiful landscape is often called
the “Hidden Dordogne”. Spring arrives six weeks earlier than the South of
England and you can still comfortably swim outside until mid October. We are
five minutes from Vic en Bigorre where there is a selection of shops, bars and
restaurants as well as a large local market each Saturday selling all the
gastronomic delights of the season. There is also a swimming pool with flumes,
a cinema and festivals throughout the year.
Rental prices/Changeover day
Prices per week (for two people sharing)£275 - £375, price for long
weekends (3 nights) £165 - £220. Saturday is the normal weekly changeover day, check-in time is
16:00 and check-out time is 11:00.
Travel times & Directions
We are
in a prime location with easy access from the UK by low cost flights from London
Stanstead to Pau; Bristol, Luton and Gatwick to Toulouse, Bourdeaux and
Biarritz; Heathrow to Tarbes. You can also travel by T.V.G from Paris in just
over 5 hours and by road from the Channel Tunnel. We are just 18km from Tarbes,
the motorway, the train station (T.G.V.) and a golf course, 50 minutes from Pau
(Rynair), 1hr 30 from Spain and the ski slopes, 1hr 45 from Biarritz and the
Atlantic, 2hr from Toulouse (Flybe), 3hr 30 from the Mediterranean, 40 mins from
Lourdes. We will provide details directions upon booking.
